As a traditional printmaker, an experimental watercolor painter, and a creative artist’s book maker, I design and produce works of art which address my experiences with sociological, cultural, historical, and environmental concerns. My artistic practice is driven by the desire to make a difference for humanity by edifying and engendering empathy within humankind and creating a sustainable annual donation to various non-profit/non-governmental organizations. I am achieving these desires through the mass production and global distribution of my artist’s books. My watercolor- and print-based artist’s books are constructed from ingenuity, research, as well as art theoretical concepts and inspired by intense empathy for other living beings – all in order to communicate messages of optimism and positive encouragement for the growing minds, bodies, and souls.
As a writer, the ability to experience the luminosity of the artwork, the artist, or the art movement itself in being what it is – is the most cathartic, the most invigorating, the most freeing quality of art criticism, and it comes from interpretation. Analyzing and scrutinizing artworks through interpretation and into Thought and (better yet) into Culture pulls the viewer in closer to experience the art, artist, or art movement on a level of connection that is much deeper than the superficial act of merely looking at it. Because, looking into something is far superior and more meaningful than looking at something. |
